About

FAT CAMP is a new musical aiming for Broadway in the 2010-11 season.

FAT CAMP is what would happen if a Judd Apatow movie had a drunken late night rendezvous with Diablo Cody's laptop that, nine months later, resulted in a little fat genius infant who could magically shred on the electric guitar and dance like Beyonce.

In short, FAT CAMP is awesome.

Hop on the bus.

More Fitness Training

Hey Campers,

Cale here once again. Its been a while since I had an update on the Fitness Training, but I’ve been so busy singing, acting and dancing the fat off that I’ve had little time to talk about eating. I only hope I can make up for it with some photos!

The the photos come from my best day of training recently:

Breakfast: Started off right with a bowl of heart-healthy Honey-Nut Cheerios and sliced banana.

Lunch: Cast outing to Chicken Bar. If you’re in the NYC area I suggest you check it out. I had the Chicken Sandwich with cheese, fries and a diet coke.

Dinner: Had two slices of pizza (cheese and spinach with mushroom)  and some left over pork Chow Mein.

Dessert: A red (cherry or strawberry) popsicle and a large bowl of popcorn.

Well, gotta go. Hopefully I’ll have some more good stuff soon. I’ve sworn off Chipotle for lunch as I keep almost having to leave the rehearsal room to go to the bathroom. Enjoy the pics.

From the writer’s desk

Hi, Campers!

Thought I would share my camp experiences thus far in the process.

It’s been very surreal having spent the last nine months locked in a room with Randy writing this show (nine months…is this a baby?), and then walking into a rehearsal room and see it come to life. Everyday, I am blown away by the talent that has been assembled on this project. Every single one of our cast members are so extraordinary and I cannot wait for the world to see them hit the stage and blow the roof off the Acorn.

Similarly, I am always amazed by Connor Gallagher’s choreography. He did a killer job on our last show, PEREZ HILTON SAVES THE UNIVERSE…, and has totally outdone himself here. Mark my words campers, he is the next big thing.

On top of all this, our director, Alex Timbers is a rock star and is guiding this show to the coolest place. The ideas he brings to the project are genius and I am honored to be working with him.

Writing for the theater is an exhausting, painful, exhilarating, thrilling, mind-numbing, terrifying and joyous process. There are some days that I can’t believe I wrote a show, let alone that it is in production and people are coming to see it. I’m always incredibly proud of the work I do, but FAT CAMP is unlike anything I have ever worked on. I have never been more excited or proud of ANYTHING I’ve worked on in my life, and am honored, humbled, and floored to be opening this show at the NYMF in 2 weeks (2 weeks, WTF!!???!!)

That’s all for now. Glad to be able to share that with all of you.

So…Get your tickets now! I promise you will see at least one cooter-slam. Is cooter-slam hyphenated? Thoughts?

- Tim.

Lest we think Cale’s Fat Camp diet plan is all junk food and no exercise, here’s some photographic proof of his physical prowess.

Fitness Training Day 1

Hi Gang!

Cale (Anshel) here. In the spirit of total disclosure I’ve decided to keep track of all the work I’m putting into getting in shape for Fat Camp. So without further ado here’s day one:

Breakfast: Started healthy with Honey Nut Cheerios.

Lunch: Went to Burger King with fellow campers Carly and Larry. I had the Whopper with cheese, Medium Fries, and 6pc Chicken Fries with both Barbecue and Ranch sauce. On the way back to rehearsal Larry and I stopped by at 7-11 for large Slurpees (Cherry and Coke flavored of course)

Dinner: Spaghetti (three helpings)

Dessert: Split a Peanut-Butter Cookie Dough ice-cream cone.

Hope Day 2 is as satisfying as Day 1.

Tickets

Tickets went on sale last week, and we’re happy to report that we’re selling extremely well for our NYMF run. What’s even cooler - we’ve barely done any advertising! Now that’s some sweet producing, eh?

Still, if you haven’t yet purchased tickets for the show, you should probably get on that ASAP! You wouldn’t want to be the only one in your bunk to miss the show, would you? There are very limited tickets available for some performances… the sooner you reserve, the better!
